No. 3 Outer Bounds

My third artwork began life as an image of the building One Canada Square and adjacent buildings, taken in January 2024. It was taken at sunset so there is an orange glow to the windows. It was during the time of the Canary Wharf Winter Lights Festival so the illuminated section at the top of the building was lit in pink.

At the time I worked on this composite (Dec 25 to Jan 26) I was influenced by layers, the disconnection of building occupants from others and disorientation (at the time I was re-editing a photo I took of the Shard rising above dense fog). This piece is made entirely from parts of the original image with a digital overpaint of fogginess.

My own image of the Shard rising above the fog

A rough sketch I drew of disconnected windows in a building, depicting the fact that some occupants will have no connection with others in the building while others will have a few connections. In large buildings only the caretakers and administrators will have a connection to all residents or occupants.
